Ideas for an at-home spa day?
Ok, so my friends and I are all a little nervous about the first day of school so we decided to do a spa day at my house the day before to relax. School starts next week, so I still have a little time to shop before we do the spa thing. But please, if you think i won't be able to find the ingredients at the grocery store tell me where i can find them. So, does anyone have any ideas?

For Dry Hair:
1 egg
1 tsp. honey
1 tsp. coconut oil
Combine egg, honey and oil. Massage into hair. Leave on 20 minutes, shampoo and rinse thoroughly.
For Oily Hair:
2 parts lemon juice
1 part water
Dip comb in mixture and comb through hair.
For Color Treated Hair:
2 oz. mayonnaise
1 Tbsp. cider vinegar
Combine mayo and vinegar. Apply to hair. Leave on for one hour.
HERBAL SHAMPOO
4 Tbsp. fresh chopped herbs or 2 Tbsp. dried herbs
1/2 c. spring water
1 c. baby shampoo
Simmer the herbs in spring water for 15 minutes. Strain and cool. Add the baby shampoo. Place in bottle.
HOMEMADE BATH CRYSTALS
5 lb. Epsom salts
10 drops perfume
1 Tbsp. glycerin
food coloring
Combine all ingredients. In a decorative jar, this makes a great gift.

you can if you want to because most people do, but if its really the machine doing the work I would say no. Becuase its part of their job that they get paid for hooking you up to tat machine. You don't pay the girl at the dentist office who cleans your teeth right. I wouldn't, thats just what I say, that I would do if it were my situation.

I LOVE spa days!
Typically, my girls and I go to an actual spa so we can really get pampered [and not have to clean up!] But once in awhile we have a spa day at someone's house. It's all about luxury and relaxation!
We wear robes, comfy house slippers [flip flop style], and pull our hair back [some of us wear headbands]. We have LOTS of drinks and appetizers that stay out for most of the day. Brownies, cookies, fruits, etc. We also have wine in glasses [it just adds to the atmosphere], but if you're underage, you can fill the wine glasses with juice, water, or soda.
We usually do a little steaming to open up our pores. You can do this with a wash cloth soaked in warm water and rung out, then placed over your face for a brief moment or two. Not only will that open up your pores, but it'll make you feel super refreshed. Next, we do masks. You can make your own. Here is a website I found with multiple recipes you can choose from: http://www.natural-skin-care-info.com/ho… OR, you can buy them in a drugstore. I absolutely LOVE Queen Helene Mint Julep masks. It's super cheap and works really well, especially on acne prone skin.
While the masks dry, you can do each other's nails, soak your feet, talk, eat, etc.

this is super easy,,,and fun,,,,you can probably find the receipes on-line,,,,,i have not treated myself in a while.....but i would start with a tub bath,,,remove any nail or toe polish
soak in some scented oils or make it a milk bath using powdered milk....when you finish,,sit on the side of the tub feet in,,,,and use a pumice or file on your heels, and lightly all over the bottom of your feet,,,,
melt parafin wax in the microwave this willl seal moisture in your heels and hands,,,,help make them soft and supple..this wax will be reallly hot,, i usu kinda paint in on with a paint brush artist 16
or one regular one that u can paint edges with,,, this can get messy but feels great, do hands feet, knees, elbows, legs of you want.....
for face,,,there is an oatmeal mask.....the cucumber eye coolers
the second bath make it a hot milk bath make it more relaxing,,,candles, music, a glass of wine or fruit juice,,,,or h2o in a fancy glass ,,, have your man throw in a body massage,,, use powder if the weather is really hot,,,,lotion or oil if not,,,,
enjoy,,,this was bi-my monthly routine,,,actually longer with the hairwashing,,, shaving,,manicure and pedicure lol,,,, suite it to u,How can i have a spa day a home?

I am looking to get a gift certificate, for a friend, to a spa in her area. However, I don't know where to start. She lives near LAX so a salon around that area or nearby would work. I would pick either the Treadmill or Vacation. If you think it will be a long long time before you can take a Vacation AND if you can enjoy the vacation (I don't know how far along you are) Then go for the trip. The treadmill is a great gift too. It'll be easier to workout having one at home. But if you don't work out on a regular basis already it'll just end up being something taking up space in your home.
Vacation, it will be a while before the two of you can get away kid free after you have your baby.

I would pick either the Treadmill or Vacation. If you think it will be a long long time before you can take a Vacation AND if you can enjoy the vacation (I don't know how far along you are) Then go for the trip. The treadmill is a great gift too. It'll be easier to workout having one at home. But if you don't work out on a regular basis already it'll just end up being something taking up space in your home.
Vacation, it will be a while before the two of you can get away kid free after you have your baby.

Hello, ret! You are correct and your wife is incorrect, unless the Excursion is genuinely a business-use vehicle. The IRS is clear (see Pub. 463, linked below) that merely putting advertising materials on a vehicle does NOT qualify the vehicle for any business deductions; it must be a legitimate business asset.
If she wants any business writeoff for the vehicle, she will need to either transfer the vehicle to the corporation (as a capital contribution or as a sale) and treat it as a business asset (in which case personal use would be subject to fringe benefit rules), or she will have to keep a strict mileage log of all business miles and submit Form 2106 (Employee Business Expense) with her 1040 to claim the mileage as an itemized deduction.Tax question,, my wife owns a day-spa that is Incorporated?

I'm going to get multiple services at a day spa. Do I tip after each service separately or wait at the end?
At most spas I've been to, the masseuse will leave an envelope with his/her name on it after the session. With this system, I do not believe it is necessary to pay immediately; you can gracefully give the envelope to the front desk or to the masseuse later. At places where they don't do this, the front desk can take care of your tip. So I'd say you can always wait til the end. Plus, I think most spas don't expect you to carry your wallet with you to the therapy rooms (if they have lockers).I'm going to get multiple services at a day spa. Alright, so my brother (as a gift) got me some services at a local spa before I head off for college. Anyways, I've never been to one and I have no idea if I'm supposed to wear anything in particular, or even what to do in general. I'm getting a massage, facial, and mud wrap. I dont know if its much help but ill try i find slumber parties are great you could start in the afternoon with a karaoke party (if you can handle the noise) then at night you could switch to DVDs and pizza i take the girls to the video shop and let them hire what that want to see (within reason)for the party favours i like to got to a cheaper shop (i dont see the point in buying the expensive stuff) and buy some different coloured lip gloss, eye shadow, bath bombs, hair accesories etc. and make up little gift bags. any way i hope that helps.

And I recently got this adorable bear from Avon, it's super soft and there's an empty pouch inside it (It comes with a pack of lavander to put inside the bear after warming up the pouch). It is a little expensive- BUT SO WORTH IT! And if you get a few issues of cosmogirl magazine one article was about proffessional spa treatments you can do at home. Here's the reciper for lip scrub:
-Mix a small amount of olive oil, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
-Rib in circular movements on your lips for 5 minutes
-Wash off and apply honey
-Keep on for 10 minutes, wash off then apply lip balm
It works! Have fun!

Have fun =] If you decide to do a day spa the weekend before her wedding would be fine.. she'll probably be too busy the actual week following her wedding, although a spa would most likely sound wonderful to her at that time
I'd do a spa day, followed by a nice dinner somewhere, where you can dress up and show off your glowing skin, etc. It's fun and girly and would provide a welcome break from last minute wedding planning, I'd think.

Then do a facial with massage and cucumber slices.. Get some classical, relaxing CDs to play throughout the day, or lots and lots of DVDs/movies like Friends, Sex and the City, Love Actually, etc.. Then do hair, makeovers, and lunch and finish with a manicure.

I personally use this range of products to do scrubbing and moisturize the body. The medicated bath salt (very fine texture as compared to what you can find in the drug store) to do a thorough scrub on the body and even leg area.
From head to toe:
* Wet the whole body and also apply the shower gel.
* Put on bath salt to do the scrub.
* Rinse off after scrubbing and and put on milk lotion to moisturize the whole body.
For the face you can use:
* Use Beauty Pack mask
* Scope 2 - 3 spoonful of beauty pack mask and mix with skin lotion (pour 2 - 3 drops) onto a small container and use the spoon to mix well till you see it in smooth form like ice-cream.
* Then you can apply it onto the face and neck areas (not forgetting neck area tend to appear dry easily)
* Leave it on for 10 - 15 minutes and rinse off
* You will feel a protective layer and apply the skin lotion/toner after that.

I would just wear sweats and a t-shirt. Just casual clothes that are comfy!! (i don't think jeans are a good idea)

well my wife says Burke Williams, she's been to Aqua and the other ones and apparently that's the one. It's in Santa Monica, the link lists all of them but you can pick one.. Oddly, the hotel's (even the pricey Shutter's ) generally do a pretty poor job at spa's btw..cartridge

My friend and I are planning to do a home spa day. The first time we did this was disasterously wrong! Our homemade facial was gross!!! So, if you have any tips for anything, please tell me. Ya I tried a home made facial with my friend too.%26gt;.%26lt; It doesnt work that great...hmm Im guessing you made it with like oatmeal and honey? Hmmm why not try putting the oatmeal in a blender first? This will make it MUCH finer and reduce the chunkiness of the facial.
store bought facials at walmart are pretty cheap and they make your face nice n smooth..me and my mom got some. they are a little messy so pull your hair up. make sure u read the package before you buy..check to see if its a peel or a masque or mud...and you could get one of those little bubbly foot things. they feel good on the feet!
Try to get store-bought products because you will have much more fun.

Acquiring spa music couldn't be easier. Several music download sites offer the perfect relaxation music, from yoga chants and ocean waves to ethereal sounds, classical music and even light jazz. Try iTunes in the categories of classical, inspirational or new age. Or you can simply put ';spa music'; in your internet search engine to find appropriate music downloads.
Some suggestions: anything by Enya, Gregorian chants, soothing sounds of ocean waves, or rain.
Candles
Scented candles are a must for creating a spa atmosphere. The most effective scents are those infused with essential oils which contain healing and relaxation properties.
Lavender - helps with relaxation, a general sense of well-being, balances emotions and encourages restful sleep.
Jasmine - helps relieve tension.
Orange - smells fresh, helps relieve tension, anxiety and disappointment.
Peppermint / Spearmint - lifts mood, restores energy and helps with mental clarity.
